Slave huts

At two places around Salt Lake / Pekelmeer at Kabayé and Peliké, you can see these slave huts that are built in 1850. Some years ago, they restored these huts to its original state. The roofs originally were thatched but have been replaced with marine plywood to avoid continuous maintenance.

Near these huts, you will see four obelisks, used for navigation in early years. They are red, white, blue and orange like the Dutch national flag.
